1
NON - TRADITIONAL SPORTS
Mountain biking, rugby, disc golf, geo- caching,
pickleball, and ultimate Frisbee are all seeing
a surge in popularity. These sports bring new
people and activities to parks, while also placing
new and different demands on them. These
non - traditional activities may compete with
traditional activities for park resources and space.
City of Elk River - Parks and Recreation Master Plan
TECHNOLOGY
Technology is changing many of the ways we live
our lives, and its impact on parks is no different.
While technology competes for leisure time
with traditional recreational activities, it presents
future opportunities as well. While information,
programs, and services will become more
available through public television, the internet
and social media, technology changes can also
create entirely new activities, such as geocaching.
Finally, maintenance practices and facility
construction can utilize advanced technology
for safer, more efficient, and healthier parks and
places.
look
'fdurrfhl
Ly_l
s „ s rye
' -fig A
Draft 11.25.14
