PARKS AND OPEN SPACE AS ECONOMIC <br />DRIVERS <br />As cities become more strategic with their <br />investments, parks provide opportunities <br />to strengthen economic development and <br />redevelopment because they enrich the quality <br />of life for residents and create value for a <br />community. Many parts of parks <br />and recreation are legally mandated to meet <br />accessibility standards, and those that are not <br />legally mandated to do so are also moving <br />towards greater accessibility, with playgrounds, <br />trails, and athletic facilities being adapted <br />to meet the needs of all citizens.
