-CODE OF ORDINANCES <br /> Chapter 78- UTILITIES <br /> ARTICLE III. -SEWERS AND SEWAGE DISPOSAL <br /> DIVISION 2. -SEWER USE AND DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS <br /> Subdivision II. - Building Sewers and Connections <br /> Water Pollution Control Federation Manual of Practice No. 9 and applicable American Society for Testing <br /> Materials standards shall apply. <br /> (Code 1982, § 1300.06(8)) <br /> Sec. 78-127. - Elevation of building sewer. <br /> Whenever possible, the building sewer shall be brought to the building at an elevation below the <br /> basement floor. In all buildings in which any building drain is too low to permit gravity flow to the public <br /> sewer, such building drain shall be provided with an approved lifting device for discharge to the building <br /> sewer. <br /> (Code 1982, § 1300.06(9)) <br /> Sec. 78-128. - Drainage of runoff or groundwater to sanitary sewer. <br /> No person shall make connections of roof downspouts, exterior foundation drains, areaway drains or <br /> other source of surface runoff or groundwater to a building sewer or building drain which in turn is <br /> connected directly or indirectly to a public sanitary sewer. <br /> (Code 1982, § 1300.06(10)) <br /> Sec. 78-129. - Construction specifications. <br /> The construction of the building sewer and its connection to the public sewer shall conform to the <br /> requirements of this Code, the sewer specifications included in this division, all other applicable rules and <br /> regulations, and the procedures set forth in appropriate specifications of the Water Pollution Control <br /> Federation Manual of Practice No. 9 and the American Society for Testing Materials. All such construction <br /> shall be made gastight and watertight. Any deviation from the prescribed procedures and materials must <br /> be approved by the city prior to installation. <br /> (Code 1982, § 1300.06(11)) <br /> Sec. 78-130. - Excavations. <br /> All excavations for building sewer installations shall be adequately guarded with barricades and <br /> lights so as to protect the public from hazards. Streets, sidewalks, parkways and other public property <br /> disturbed in the course of the work shall be restored in a manner satisfactory to the city. <br /> (Code 1982, § 1300.06(12)) <br /> Sec. 78-131. - Inspection of building sewer; supervision of connection. <br /> The applicant for a building sewer permit shall notify the city when the building sewer is ready for <br /> inspection and connection to the public sewer.
