1. Making the hiring recommendation to the City Council. This would expedite the process and <br />have the candidate on staff sooner. <br />2. Recommending top candidates to interview with the City Council as handled when the Park and <br />Recreation Director was hired. <br />Staff recommends having another interview committee that would hold interviews at the same time as the <br />above mentioned committee. This committee would consist of the division managers that fall under the <br />department's responsibility and other department directors not participating on the first committee. This <br />would allow the employees who would be working directly with the applicant to develop and provide <br />their evaluation. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Assuming a mid- October start date, pay and benefits for 2012, which would come from the Council <br />Contingency provided for new positions, is estimated to be approximately $25,000. This will vary based <br />upon when the candidate begins work, which pay grade the position is placed in, and the step the <br />candidate is given.
