City Council Minutes Page 3 <br />June 15, 1998 <br /> <br />4.5. <br /> <br />4.6. <br /> <br />4.7. <br /> <br />4.8. <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers indicated the improvements are estimated at $37,000 <br />and will be taken out of the liquor store fund. Pat noted approximately $4,400 <br />was received for sale of the shelving and coolers. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED APPROVAL OF THE SALE OF THE FORMER <br />LIQUOR STORE CANOPY TO JR SALOON FOR $1,000. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ACCEPT THE BID BY RIVERSIDE FOR <br />CARPETING OF THE FORMER LIQUOR STORE. COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />Community Recreation Update <br /> <br />Jeff Asfahl, Community Recreation Director, indicated they are anticipating <br />opening the skatepark in June or early July. <br /> <br />Park of the Month Update <br /> <br />Steve Wensman, Planner, reviewed the Park of the Month Progress Chart <br />attached to his staff report dated June 15, 1998. Steve noted 11 concept plans <br />for parks which have been endorsed by the Park and Rec Commission, and 3 <br />were presented to the public with favorable results. He is currently working on <br />costs estimates for the endorsed concept plans. <br /> <br />Northstar Corridor Proiect Update <br /> <br />Scott Harlicker, Planning Assistant, indicated that a planning forum has been <br />scheduled for June 26, 1998, from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. Scott stated he anticipates <br />station locations will be discussed and stressed the importance of having <br />representation at this meeting to promote Elk River. He explained that federal <br />legislation has been approved for funding and the North Star Corridor will be <br />competing with 170 other projects for Federal Transit Authority funding. BRW is <br />working with Burlington Northern on a dual use feasibility study. Scott noted that <br />the City of Rice has been accepted as a member on the Nodhstar Corridor <br />Development Authority. The Council discussed the need for the city to begin the <br />process to identify a station location in Elk River. <br /> <br />Conditional Use Permit Inspection Update <br /> <br />Steve Wensman, Planner, reviewed progress on conditional use permit inspections <br />as outlined in his report dated June 15, 1998. The Council expressed their support <br />for the inspection program. <br /> <br />Open Mike <br /> <br />No one appeared for Open Mike. <br /> <br /> <br />
