d
f
r

~]

•
architects ,~

Shattuck. St, Mary's Dane
Field House
Soccer Field /Bleacher Project
Faribault, Minnesota
~~:
SSMS had long been known nationally for its hockey programs. To
accommodate a growing numberofstudentsinterested in theirsoccer
and lacrosse programs, they commissioned adding an air supported
fabric dome over an artificial turf soccer/lacrosse facility. Included in
the project was an enclosed walkway connecting the dome to the
new ice arena and the addition of the arena's lobby, which included
the soccer/ lacrosse locker rooms for visiting and SSMS teams, as well
as a concessions area, The Saber Cafe.
In conjunction with the Field House, was the construction of an
adjoining out door artificial turf soccer/lacrosse field. The school later
commissioned a design study for adding 500 permanent bleacher
seats and vending areas.
These projects were designed by Chuck Freiberg in 2005. The 48,000
SF Dane Family Field House opened on May 5, 2006 at a final cost of
$2.1M. The stadium seating estimated at $1.2M has not gone into
construction.
* Architect Chuck Freiberg was SSMS Architect of Record for over ten
years (1998 thru 2008) while in prior association.
htg-architects.com
