White Bear Lake Arena
White Bear Lake, Minnesota
~,,
.~~ .~.
Design Only
Several Concept Design packages have been done for adding new ice
arenas in White Bear Lake. The YH Board needed marketing tools to
proceed with obtaining the Association's approval for a new facility to
fill the gap in ice time. This Concept package provided contractors the
tools needed to develop preliminary pricing to prepare a business plan
to present to the Cityfor consideration of the issuance of performance
bonds.
The Arena's program statement consisted of two NHL sized ice sheets,
one with 1,200 permanent seats, the other with 600 retractable seats.
Under the permanent seats and second floor concourse there were
two High School varsity locker rooms, and eight youth hockey locker
rooms.
Over the course of three years, two other Concept Design packages
were prepared for theYouth Hockey Association, one to add a sheet of
ice to the current White Bear Lake Arena, and a second to add a second
sheet to one of the existing county rinks. Neither of these options was
adopted.
Fortunately, HTG Architects was selected to be the Architect of record
in the design and construction of the new two-sheet facility in Vadnais
Heights, MN of which the WBLYHA is major component.
*The projects mentioned other than Vadnais Heights were designed
by Architect Chuck Freiberg while in prior association.
htg-architects.com
architects
I~
