Case File: 171~~ Focused Axea Study
Page 3 final Adoption
Transportation
Much of the plan's evolution was based on the location of a future interchange. The plan includes
the use of existing infrastructure where possible, and the development of new connections,
including south the 165th Avenue, a new intersection on Highway 10 near 167th Avenue. The plan
also identifies the benefits of additional connections from the study area to Carson Street to the
north, Twin Lakes Road over the tracks at 173rd Avenue.
The eventual build out of the area will increase traffic throughout the study area, most notably on
Twin Lakes Road, 171St Avenue, and Highway 10/169. The plan anticipates the need fox
roundabouts at several key intersections, in part to keep traffic moving, but also to prevent traffic
back-ups blocking intersections and train lines. Amore defined transportation plan, using the land
uses and densities prescribed, will need to be developed to establish long term traffic control
measures.
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
N:\Departments\Community Development\Planning\Projects\FAST Study Area\FAST staff report PC for adoption June2010.doc
