Call Meetina To Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Park and <br />Recreation Commission was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chair Anderson. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Consider 7/16/97 Park & Recreation Commission Aaenda <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER DAVE ANDERSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE JULY 16, 1997, PARK & <br />RECREATION AGENDA. COMMISSIONER KUESTER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Consider Minutes of 6/11/97 Park & Recreation Commission Meetina <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KUESTER MOVED APPROVAL OF THE JUNE 11, 1997, PARK AND <br />RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WITH THE FOLLOWING CORRECTION: <br /> <br />- COMMISSIONER KUESTER WAS PRESENT FOR THE ENTIRE MEETING. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER MADSEN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Open Mike <br /> <br />4.1. <br /> <br />Discussion - Park Bond Referendum <br /> <br />Kathy Warneke. representing the Elk River Swim Club. expressed her support for <br />inclusion of an 8 lane, 50 meter swimming pool in the pool proposal. along with <br />the 0 entry depth and water playground which has been discussed. She felt <br />there is an increasing demand for pool time by the competitive swimming <br />programs, and currently swimmers are traveling to the Charles Horn pool in Anoka <br />to train. Ms. Warneke noted there are between 70-90 swimmers, ages 6 through <br />17. in the swim club. Ms. Warneke felt the number of requests which are <br />continually turned down due to lack of available pool time indicates the pool <br />would also be utilized by various groups in the community. Ms. Warneke stated <br />the adult lap swimming programs are also full. She felt the greatest demand is in <br />
