The sign will be similar to the west entrance sign by Lake
Orono. In October 2008 the City Council approved an ordinance amendment that allowed city entrance
monument signs on city or private property.
The property owner, Baldwin, is selling a portion of his property to the Elk River Citizens Sign
Committee. The .05 acres represents the portion he is selling. Lot 1, Block 1 would be retained by the
property owner.
The ordinance requires park dedication be provided for any land that is platted. Park dedication is
collected at the time of final platting. The dedication would be in the form of cash or land, based on the
recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Based on the Ordinance and the Council adopted fee schedule, the park dedication (in cash) for the
subject parcels, as platted, would be as follows:
Lot 1, Block 1 50.39 acres x $7,298/acre = $367,746.22
Lot 2, Block 1 .05 acres x $7,298/acre = $364.90
