'`"~ /i <br />Elk REQUEST FOR ACTION <br />River <br />To Item Number <br />Ci Council 3.2. <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent anua 12, 2009 Brad Rolfe, Ca taro, Police De t. <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Authorization to Purchase Squad Cars for Police Department <br /> Reviewed by <br />Action Requested <br />Council approve request to purchase four (4) Ford Crown Victoria squad cars from State contract in the <br />amount of $99,170 including sales tax, ($24,792.52 each). <br />Background/Discussion <br />The requested purchase is part of the routine three year, (100,000 mile) squad replacement cycle as <br />established by the City Fleet Committee and which has been used by the police department for many <br />years. The requested vehicles are 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors which is the industry <br />standard and which the police department has extensive experience and success using. On January 5, <br />2009, the City Fleet Committee reviewed and unanimously supported the purchase of the four squads. <br />The requested vehicles will be purchased off of the Minnesota Fleet Contract which has been awarded to <br />Elk River Ford. <br />Financial Impact <br />Funds have been designated in the 2009 Equipment Replacement Fund in the amount of $132,000 which <br />includes vehicle purchase, old squad tear down, set up, graphics, and miscellaneous expenses associated <br />with squad replacement. <br />Attachments <br />^ Memo from Finance Director Tim Simon <br />Action Motion by Second by Vote <br />Follow Up <br />C:ADocuments and Settings\jmiller\I,ocal Settings\Temparary Internet Files\OLK3E\2009 Squad Purchase Memo to Council.doc <br />
