ITEM # 5. <br />rover <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Housing & Redevelopment Authority [~, <br />_J <br />FROM: Heidi Steinmetz, Assistant Director of Economic Development <br />DATE: October 3, 2005 <br />SUBJECT: Downtown Revitalization Project Update <br />Attachment <br />• Memo from City Administrator dated September 29, 2005 <br />Background <br />The City entered into a development agreement with MetroPlains Development at the end of last <br />year. Since that time staff has been working closely with MetroPlains to make progress on a number <br />of activities leading up to the project construction. <br />Current Activities <br />Project Status <br />Staff is working with MetroPlains to finalize the financing component of the project. It is <br />anticipated that the HRA will be asked to call a special meeting for October 17`'' to review <br />development agreement issues. <br />lackson Square Flag Pole <br />See the attached memo from the City Administrator regarding this issue. <br />lackson Square Gazebo <br />The gazebo was moved from downtown Elk River to Chip Martin's private residence in Otsego in <br />mid-September. Mr. Martin purchased the gazebo at the city auction this past summer. <br />Downtown Parking <br />At their September 14``' meeting, the Downtown Rivers Edge Association expressed thanks to the <br />Police Chief for the Police Department's recent downtown parking enforcement efforts. Rivers <br />Edge members mentioned the result of the designated employee section located in the new King <br />Avenue parking lot m addition to parking enforcement has made it easier for downtown customers <br />to find parking spaces. <br />S:Allowntown Revitalization\Memos\2005\10.3.05 HRA.doc <br />
