Following Council approval, staff is <br />prepared to initiate the hiring process immediately with the anticipation of filling the position within the <br />next three months. <br />Background/Discussion <br />This is a new position for the City of Elk River. It will be a part-time position, 20 hours per week <br />including nights and weekends. The hope is to take Energy City to the next level with this position. <br />The three primary functions of the position will be: <br />1) Develop partnerships with school groups, other communities, and local utilities <br />2) Outreach to the residents of the Elk River area <br />3) Encourage diversity in energy sources <br />The minimum qualifications for the position are proposed to be the following: <br />• Bachelor's degree in the energy or environmental conservation field or 3 years related work <br />experience <br />• Valid driver's license <br />Financial Impact <br />The position salary and benefits are included in the 2008 Energy City budget.
