This position's primary responsibility will be to develop a <br />comprehensive Energy City program that will allow Elk River to become a national model for <br />energy sustainability, conservation and economic growth. The position will use a variety of <br />techniques to promote these ideals including public/private partnerships and collaborations, <br />outreach to residents and businesses and encouraging diversity in energy sources. <br />Essential Functions <br />1. Develops partnerships with other groups. <br />A. Works with the local school districts on opportunities for the students to participate in <br />Energy City activities and curriculum. <br />B. Researches other communities to see what types of programs are being implemented which <br />could be implemented in Elk River. <br />C. Coordinates with local utilities on related issues. <br />D. Monitors State and Federal legislation. <br />E. Works with other local governments, businesses, nonprofits and community organizations <br />to explore energy alternatives and other conservation efforts. <br />2. Performs outreach to residents of Elk River area. <br />A. Raises community awareness through events such as Business and Energy Expos. <br />B. Coordinates with Energy City web designer on updates to website. <br />C. Seek publicity regarding Energy City. <br />D. Assist with establishing city-wide conservation programs. <br />3. Encourages diversity m energy sources. <br />A. Works with City's Fleet Management Team on purchasing alternate fuel vehicles. <br />B. Develops energy related grant and/or loan programs to offer to new and existing <br />businesses. <br />C. Encourages industrial, commercial and institutional buildings to be LEED certified, <br />energy-efficient and/or green buildings. <br />D. Encourages alternate fuel and other energy related companies to locate in Elk River. <br />E. Makes site visits to alternate fuel and other energy related companies. <br />F.
