IN GENERAL <br /> <br />Sec. 30-1. Definitions. <br />The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the <br />meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a <br />different meaning: <br />Abandoned sign means a sign which no longer identifies or advertises a bona fide <br />business, lessor, service, owner, product, or activity, and/or for which no legal owner can <br />be found. <br />Accessory use, structure or building means a use, structure or building or portion of a <br />structure subordinate to and serving the principal use and structure on the same lot and <br />customarily incidental thereto. <br />Address sign means a sign which identifies the numerical address of the premises on <br />which the sign is located. <br />Administrative subdivision means a subdivision involving the creation of four or fewer <br />tracts or lots. <br />Advertising sign means a sign structure advertising an establishment, merchandise, <br />service, or entertainment which is not sold, produced, manufactured, or furnished at the <br />property on which the sign is located. <br />Agricultural research facilities means buildings, laboratories, and other facilities or <br />structures which are used in connection with agricultural research and development, <br />investigation, testing, or experimentation. Such facilities may include, but are not limited <br />to, animal feeding facilities, barns, storage buildings, confinement areas, or other animal <br />housing units; pasture and grazing areas; cropped or tilled fields; grain and feed <br />processing; nursery areas; and agricultural waste management facilities or systems. <br />Agricultural use means the use of land for growing or producing field crops, keeping or <br />producing oflivestock, and livestock products and poultry. The term shall include <br />incidental retail selling by the producer of products raised on the premises, provided that <br />customer parking space is furnished off the public right-of-way. The term shall not <br />include feedlots. <br />Alley means a public or private right-of-way not greater than 24 feet in width which <br />affords a secondary means of access to abutting property. <br />Alteration sign means any change, reconstruction, relocation, or enlargement of a sign, or <br />of any of its component parts. Routine maintenance, the changing of movable parts of <br />signs which are designed for such changes, and the repainting of sign copy and display <br />matter shall not be deemed to be an alteration within the context of article VI, division 5, <br />subdivision II, of this chapter pertaining to signs. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />00- to <br />
