<br />Animal unit is a unit of measure used to compare differences in production of animal
<br />wastes which has as a standard the amount of waste produced on a regular basis by a
<br />slaughter steer or heifer.
<br />Animals, agricultural, mean animals which are used for the production of food or other
<br />products. Agricultural animals shall include cattle, hogs, bees, sheep, goats, chickens,
<br />turkeys, horses, and other animals commonly accepted as farm animals in the state.
<br />Animals, dangerous, mean a mammal, bird, or large or poisonous reptile with a
<br />propensity to be dangerous to the safety and welfare of any person, property or other
<br />domestic animal. Examples of such dangerous animals include but are not limited to
<br />bears, lions, wolves, coyotes, cougars, tigers, panthers, apes, alligators, crocodiles, large
<br />snakes (greater than six feet), and poisonous snakes, badgers, and ocelots, excluding
<br />dogs, cats, other traditional house pets and livestock. Dangerous animals shall also
<br />include any animal that has attacked or bitten any person when the attack or bite was
<br />unprovoked. Animals which are cross-bred with dangerous animals shall also be
<br />considered dangerous animals.
<br />Animals, domestic, means traditional house pets such as dogs, cats and birds which can
<br />be contained within a principal structure throughout the entire year, provided that
<br />containment can be accomplished without special modification to the structure requiring
<br />a building permit from the city. Domestic animals also include birds and rabbits normally
<br />sheltered outside the home.
<br />Animals, nontraditional or exotic, means animals which are not normally considered to
<br />be domesticated but are not dangerous animals as defined in this section.
<br />Animated sign means any sign which uses movement or changes of lighting to depict
<br />action or to create a special effect or scene (compare Flashing sign).
<br />Antenna means any structure or device used for the purpose of collecting or transmitting
<br />electromagnetic waves, including but not limited to directional antennas, such as panels,
<br />microwave dishes, and satellite dishes, and omni-directional antennas, such as whip
<br />antennas.
<br />Antenna tower means an integrated system consisting of a tower mast and reinforced
<br />concrete base pier, which mayor may not be guyed, supporting one or more antennas for
<br />radio, television, telephone and microwave transmitting and receiving.
<br />Apartment means a building other than a hotel or motel containing four or more dwelling
<br />units which have primary entranceS from the same common hallways.
<br />Area identification sign means a freestanding or wall sign which identifies a specific
<br />residential subdivision development whether single-family or multifamily, or a
<br />commercial development or an industrial park, and which is located on the same premises
<br />as the development which it identifies.
<br />Awning means a shelter projecting from and supported by the exterior wall of a building
<br />constructed of nonrigid materials on a supporting framework (compare Marquee).
<br />Awning sign means a sign painted on, printed on, or attached flat against the surface of an
<br />awning.
<br />Banner sign means a sign made of fabric or any nonrigid material with no enclosing
<br />framework.
<br />Basement means any area of a structure, including crawl spaces, having its floor or base
<br />subgrade (below ground level) on all four sides, regardless of the depth of excavation
<br />below ground level.
