<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />HELD AT THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK COMMUNITY ROOM <br />. JUNE 12. 1986 <br /> <br />Members Present: Elaine Anderson. Richard Gongoll. Jerry Hagen. Mayor Dick <br />Hinkle. Bud Houlton. Cliff Lundberg. Frank Madsen. John <br />Oliver. Jackie Schuelein; Chamber Executive Secretary. Jon <br />Glennie; City Intern. and Patrick Klaers; City <br />Administrator. <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Lloyd Brutlag. Hank Duitsman. Keith Holme. Carol Mills. John <br />Plaisted. Jim Simpson. Larry Toth and Rob VanValkenburg <br /> <br />1. Dick Gongoll called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />Dick Gongoll indicated he had met with Pat Klaers. the City Administrator <br />and they had discussed the reorganizing of the Economic Development <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Dick Gongoll stated that this year the City would not have to officially <br />recertify. and further noted that if the City wished to continue as a Star <br />City. they would have to recertify by March of 1987. He indicated there <br />were certain requirements that have to be met for recertification. Mr. <br />Gongoll further noted that the Star City Program is only one part of the <br />Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />It was suggested that a Chamber Representative attend the EDC meetings as <br />an ad hoc member. <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding the election of officers for the remainder <br />of the 1986 calendar year. <br /> <br />MAYOR. DICK HINKLE MOVED TO ELECT DICK GONGOLL AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 1986 CALENDAR <br />YEAR. ELAINE ANDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION PASSED <br />UNANIMOUSLY. <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding the election of a Vice Chair. Cliff <br />Lundberg indicated he would consider taking the Vice Chair but indicated <br />he would like some time to think about it. <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding the Secretary for the EDC. It was the <br />consensus of the Commission that the City would provide a secretary for <br />the quarterly meetings. <br /> <br />Discussion was held regarding possible committees to be formed on the EDC <br />in order to make the EDC more effective. The Committees discussed were as <br />follows: 1) Economic Development. Planning and Research. 2) Marketing and <br />Promotion. 3) Financial. and 4) Executive Committee - Task Force. <br /> <br />It was the consensus that a list of the Committees and appropriate duties <br />relating to these committees be made and sent out to EDC members so they <br />may indicate which committee they would like to serve on. <br />
