<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION ~ffiETING <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />APRIL 28, 1980 <br /> <br />Members Present: Commissioners Fox, Hinkle, Driessen, Tracy, and Lucas. <br /> <br />Also Present: Herbert S. Adolphson, Community Development Director <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Fox at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />2. Minutes <br /> <br />The minutes of the March 24, 1980 Planning Commission meeting were <br />read and approved. <br /> <br />3. Agenda <br /> <br />There were no changes to the agenda. <br /> <br />4. Robert Tacheny, Jr., Conditional Use Permit <br /> <br />Robert Tacheny was present to discuss his request for a conditional use <br />permit to operate a small business in his garage in School view Addition. <br />Mr. Tacheny stated this small business would involve repairing glass <br />windows and screens and also he would carry mirrors. He said he has <br />agreements with Coast to Coast and Standard Lumber for pickup and would <br />probably do 80 percent of the work out of these stores. Mr. Tacheny <br />said he had talked to his neighbors in a 500 foot area and received no <br />objections and submitted a list of 20 neighbors in favor of the business. <br />Commissioner Lucas asked him if it was to be a part-time business and.Mr. <br />Tacheny stated that it was and that he would be going to the stores <br />about three times a week, plus whatever additional customers he picked <br />up through advertising. Commissioner Tracy asked if he intended to have <br />a sign in his yard and Mr. Tacheny said he did not intend to. Commissioner <br />Driessen said it should be a quiet operation. The public portion was then <br />opened. No one wished to speak for or against this proposal. The public <br />portion was then closed. CO~~fISSIONER LUCAS MOVED APPROVAL OF THE <br />CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT WITH A TWO YEAR RENEWAL CONDITION. COMMISSIONER <br />TRACY SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION PASSED 4-0. <br /> <br />5. Timothy P. Corpe, Rear Yard Variance <br /> <br />Timothy Corpe was present to discuss his request for a rear yard variance <br />for an accessory building in his backyard. Mr. Carpe said he would put <br />up a garage type building, 22x22, frame structure, lap siding, and six <br />feet from the rear lot line. He said he would use this building to store <br />his boat and snowmobiles. Mr. Adolphson stated the only condition would <br />be that there be no openings such as windows on the backside.
