<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PLA}mING CO~~ISSION ~~ETING <br />l~a.:l 30, 1978 <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: Chairman Toth, Commissioners Fredericksen, Rootes, Nelson, <br />Fox, Driessen, Lucas, Zabee, and. Building Inspector Holmes. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Thompson. <br /> <br />The follo~~ng corrections were made to the minutes of the special May 17, <br />1978 meeting: Commissioner Driessen was present at the meeting and the <br />\\Tord "possibly" vlas deleted from the seventh paragraph. <br /> <br />Ben Roper was present for Zone change request from R-l to R-2 in Elk River <br />Homes Addition for construction of double btL~galos. Commissioner Fox <br />stated the Board would be creating sub standard lots as these lots in <br />Block 3. EL~ River Homes Addition are less than the required 100' X 150'. <br />Mr. Roper was directed to apply for a var~~nc~ for lot size and hearing at <br />a future meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Roper also had questions about approval of his final plat of Island <br />VievJ 3rd.. .t\ddition. He was advised to make application for hearing, date <br />to be set after moratorium is lifted. <br /> <br />Carol Mills of Guardian Angels Nursing Home was present ~~th an architect <br />to present a plan fn~,construction of housing for the elderlv. Elk River <br />- 7T n c::..,., n U <br />is one City in 207 ~~~~gu from 2000 applications for finanicing from HUD <br />202, Section 8 Subsidy. Because of the number o~ stories in the main <br />structure, from four to possibly 6 storiep~ Mrs. Mills was asked to <br />contact the City Fire C~ief about available fire protection equipment. <br /> <br />George Adamski vIas present to request zone change _from R-4 to 1-2 for an <br />addition to ~is place of business located on part of Lot 5, Subd. of Lot <br />6, Aud. Subd. No.3. Upon motion of Rootes, seconded by Nelson, zone <br />change and variance for lot size were approved for recommendation to <br />the City Council, subject to approval of Inspector Holmes. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />John C. Newell was present vdth preliminary plat of Ar-Mon Commercial Park, <br />presently a hog farm operation. A zone change to B-2 on smaller lots and <br />I-Ion larger lots were desired. After taL~ing to Mr. Newell about the <br />types of businesses that would be developing, the Board felt the lots <br />would apply more to the B-1 zone. After discussing lot size, sewer and <br />water, the fact there would be no service road, etc. Mr. Newell was directed <br />to make application for hearing on the preliminary plat. Date of hearing <br />to be set after moratorium is lifted. Copies were referred to the City <br />Engineer and Inspector Holmes for their review. <br /> <br />Clarence Cook was present to discuss constructing a double bungalo or four- <br />plex on part of his lot in See 34 near Johnson Plat. 14r. Cook \Alas informed <br />it would be necessary to plat the tract into the two lots and to have a <br />zone change hearing. <br /> <br />Mrs. Seliga was present to request permission to put a Mobile Home on the <br />Ak-Sar-Ben property in Sec. 24, Tv~ 32, Range26 for a watcp~an residence <br />because of the problem of vandalism and theft to their businesS.
