��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />March 12, 2024 <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered 8 new water meters, installed a Smart Point module, and took curb stop ties. <br />• Completed 20 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />o Completed one MDH validation fluoride sample <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the diesel generation plant to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br />• Submitted Tier II Annual Reports to the Department of Homeland Security for the diesel <br />generation plant and all the water treatment plants. <br />• In reviewing video taken of well 7 while the pipe, pump, and motor were removed for <br />maintenance, it was determined that the screen needed to be cleaned due to over 20 <br />years of mineral buildup. The screen cleaning process involves a combination of a <br />carefully planned chemical treatment and physical removal of mineral deposits. The <br />cleaning process was completed March 1, and a new video was taken of the well that <br />shows that the screen looks almost new again. Before and after pictures are attached. <br />• Work has been completed replacing the programable logic controller (PLC) for well #9. <br />This will allow our Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to <br />communicate through fiberoptic instead of the current radio system that has had some <br />reoccurring communication issues at this site. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />239 <br />
