______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />August 8, 2023 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered three new water meters, sealed the meter, installed an encoder receiver <br />transmitter, and took curb stop ties. <br /> <br />• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> <br />• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br /> <br />• Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br /> <br />• On December 16, 2021, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the <br />current Lead and Copper Rule Revisions will go into effect to support actions to reduce <br />lead in drinking water. The EPA has directed states and systems to prioritize developing <br />lead service line inventories which will need to be submitted by the compliance date <br />October 16, 2024. The Minnesota Department of Health is currently contracting with <br />consulting engineers to provide technical assistance for public water systems to <br />complete their lead service line inventory. We have applied for assistance with <br />reviewing records for inventory development. <br /> <br />• ERMU received approval from the Minnesota Department of Health for our Wellhead <br />Protection Plan Amendment, finalizing the revision process. Notice was sent to local <br />government units on July 27 and staff is beginning work on implementing the initiatives <br />in the plan. <br />100
