UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />August 11, 20206.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> Delivered 10 new water meters. <br /> Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from six water services. <br /> Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards. <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> Completed one fluoride validation sample for the Minnesota Department of Health. <br /> Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plants to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br /> Submitted DMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br /> On August 3 at 2:11 p.m., we received notice that a contractor performing work for the <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation had drilled into our 24-inch diameter water <br />main along Highway 169justsouthof School Street.Staff from every department at <br />ERMU began the challenging task of stopping the water leak while keeping the rest of <br />the water systemin Elk Riverpressurized. Due to the location of the leak, it required <br />shutting off thewater supply from Freeport Water Tower; at this point we had two <br />water towers off line as the Gary Street Water Tower was already out of service due to <br />scheduledmaintenance.Brenteson Excavation washired to perform the excavation and <br />repair work of the damaged water main. ERMU staff worked through the night until the <br />morning of August 4when the pipe repair was complete,and the water was turned back <br />on. Photosare attached. <br /> Staff worked with Elfering and Associates to investigateoptions for running watermain <br />rd <br />to Windsor Park 3 Addition. According to our water modelif a twelve-inchwater main <br />was installed alongCounty Road 1 to County Road 33 and then over to that <br />development, they would have approximately50 psi of water pressure.
