______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Sara Youngs – Customer Service Manager <br />MEETING DATE: <br />September 13, 2022 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />1.5 <br />SUBJECT: <br />2022 Customer Service Week <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Adopt Resolution 22-11 Recognizing Customer Service Week, October 3-7, 2022 <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In 1992 the U.S. Congress, by Senate joint resolution, designated the first week of October as <br />National Customer Service Week and requested the President issue a proclamation in support. <br />On October 8, 1992, President George Bush issued Proclamation 6485 recognizing the first <br />week of October as National Customer Service Week. <br /> <br />In President Bush’s proclamation he notes, “…businesses will do a better job of providing high <br />quality goods and services by listening to its employees and by empowering them with <br />opportunities to make a difference. Customer service professionals work in the front lines <br />where a firm meets its customers; where supply meets demand. With responsive policies and <br />procedures and with simple courtesy, customer service professionals can go a long way toward <br />ensuring customer satisfaction…” <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities’ (ERMU) mission statement promises: “To provide our customers <br />with safe, reliable, cost effective and quality long term electric and water utility service. To <br />communicate and educate our customers in the use of utility services, programs, policies, and <br />future plans. These products and services will be provided in an environmentally and financially <br />responsible manner.” To be successful in our mission, it is essential that ERMU provide <br />excellent customer service while providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective utility services. <br /> <br />Here at ERMU, we recognize our employees that provide excellent customer service and ask <br />the Commission to support these employees, and our organization, by adopting this resolution <br />recognizing Customer Service Week. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• Resolution No. 22-11 - Recognizing 2022 Customer Service Week <br /> <br />5
