Commissioner Olsen arrived at 7:10 p.m. and <br />Commissioner Barrett arrived at 8:15 p.m. <br /> <br />MEMBERS AB SENT: <br /> <br />Commissioner Kimball <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Pat K1aers, City Administrator; Stephen Rohlf, Building <br />and Zoning Administrator; Terry Maurer, City Engineer; <br />Bob Wuornos, City Planner; and Peter Beck, City Attorney <br /> <br />1. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River <br />Planning Commission was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman <br />Kropuenske. <br /> <br />There being <br />the Planning <br />presented. <br /> <br />no additions to the agenda, Chairman Kropuenske stated that <br />Commission meeting would proceed with the agenda as <br /> <br />2. Variance Request/Leanne Prehatney/Public Hearing <br /> <br />Chairman Kropuenske <br />foot encroachment on <br />zone to accommodate <br />conditions required <br />granted. <br /> <br />indicated that Leanne Prehatney is requesting a 15 <br />the 50 foot front yard setback required in an A-l <br />a dwelling. Chairman Kropuenske read the five <br />per the Elk River City Code for a variance to be <br /> <br />Chairman Kropuenske indicated that Ms. Prehatney could build without a <br />variance, however, her house would be built on a cliff with the back yard <br />on the edge of the cliff. <br /> <br />Chairman Kropuenske opened the public hearing. There being no one for or <br />against the matter, Chairman Kropuenske closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER FUCHS MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE 15 FOOT VARIANCE <br />REQUEST BY LEANNE PREHATNEY DUE TO THE LAY OF THE LAND. COMMISSIONER <br />MORTON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan for the City of Elk River/Public Hearing <br /> <br />Chairman Kropuenske stated that this is the first public hearing held for <br />the Growth Management Comprehensive Plan. He indicated that the purpose <br />of the public hearing is to receive public input on the plan. He noted <br />that the City has attempted to notify the public of the Growth Management <br />plan through public hearing notices and articles in the Elk River Star <br />newspaper and all of the Growth Management Plan Task Force meetings were <br />open to the public. The Growth Management Plan (GMP) has also been <br />available for purchase at City Hall and public review at the Library and <br />City Hall. <br />
