>4
Elk River ---
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Chris Sumstad— Electric Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
December 14, 2022 6.1h
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Installed 21 new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary line
once the customer requests service.
• Work has continued for crews along Highway 169. They recently energized the new 500
MCM underground feeder that was installed near School Street and Highway 169. The
underground work is mostly completed. Some work is still left at the Highway 10/101
interchange which will occur in spring of 2022. Crews will work into the winter tearing
down old overhead lines at 197th Avenue, Main Street, and School Street intersections.
• Crews have worked with Great River Energy (GRE) this past month on changing out the
structures along the east side of Highway 169 for the Redefine project. With the final
pole being changed out on December 7 and our lines attached to GRE's transmission
poles, this project is complete.
• At 2:20 p.m. on December 7, a westbound car left the roadway in the 14000 block of
County Road 39 and struck and snapped one of our three phase power poles. This
interrupted power to approximately 150 customers. Crews responded to the accident,
replaced the pole and put the wires back up, restoring power to customers just before
6:00 p.m.
• Crews installed underground wire and a transformer at a business on Highway 10 for a
new three phase service intended to power a greenhouse/retail addition.
• Crews are in the process of installing wire and a transformer for a three phase service at
a new commercial building on 163rd Avenue in Elk River.
150
