<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 6, 1959 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on April 6, 1959 <br />with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the <br />last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Members of the Fire Department were present. Fire contracts with outlying districts are to be <br />renewed each year. The Clerk was instructed by the Council to prepare new contracts with the <br />following towns: Elk River, Burns, Big Lake, Otsego, Ramsey and Livonia. <br /> <br />Trustee Kemper proposed the attached resolution regarding the site of the sewage disposal plant <br />and moved its adoption. It was seconded by Briggs and passed all voting in favor. <br /> <br />A petition was presented to the Council signed by 83 persons objecting to using the downtown park <br />for a parking lot. The petition was placed on file. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Kemper to buy the street signs from The <br />Gopher Stamp and Die Co. of Minneapolis at a price of $6.65 each. Mr. W. J. Pruit of that company <br />was present at the meeting. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to buy two inch galvanized pipe for the sign <br />posts from Carlson Bros Hardware at 45 cent per foot. Carried. <br /> <br /> The Council instructed the Clerk to write the Elk River Motor Sales demanding a new motor for <br />the Plymouth Police Car for the reason that the car is taking two much oil and has only about 3000 <br />miles on it. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Bergeson to authorize the Elk River Fire <br />Department to answer fire calls outside the village limits as well as in the villages. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br /> <br />Carter Kruger and Assoc. – Sewer Contract $5,253.59 <br />Fire Department – Fires $1,525.00 <br />First Nat’l Bank Agency – Insurance $66.92 <br />First Nat’l Bank – Insurance $67.55 <br />Carter Kruger and Assoc. – Sewer Extensions $127.50 <br />First Nat’l Bank Agency – Insurance $388.51 <br />Elk River Lmber Co. – Mdse $6.75 <br />Star News – Printing $25.05 <br />Hetrick Station – Gas and Oil $20.92 <br />Coast to Coast Store – Mdse $6.66 <br />Farm Bureau – Gas and Oil $3.25 <br />Flaherty Bros – Was Car $2.00 <br />Andy’s Electric – Service $1.95 <br />Bank of Elk River – Ins. $460.04 <br /> <br />
