This was in response to a
lack of proposal submissions during the initial RFP process.
The EDA received nine registrations and five proposals. At their June 25, 2020, meeting, the Public Art
Subcommittee reviewed the proposals and narrowed it to two artists.
At their July 8, 2020, meeting, the Public Art Subcommittee interviewed two artists, and recommended
approval of the proposal from The Milligan Studio.
The next step in the process is to reach out to the artist and the Central MN Arts Board (CM),B) and draft the
grant application for approval by the EDA at their July 20, 2020, meeting.
Upon contacting the CMAB, staff learned the CMAB temporarily suspended the Public Art Grant Program for
FY21 effective July 1, 2020. Unfortunately, there will be no applications available for these programs.
The CMAB relies on state funding to invest in the arts in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright Counties.
As the state economy reels from the impact of COVID-19 and the measures which we adopted for our
collective safety, CMAB indicated they must also plan for an impact to the grant funds available in the future.
However, applicants may still propose arts learning or public art activities through the project grant program.
Changes made to the CMAB Project Grant application process:
1) Project Grants
• There will be two project grant deadlines: October 21, 2020 &March 18, 2021
• The maximum request amount will be $5,000, reduced from $7,000
• There will be no match requirement in the proposal budget
• Applicants that receive CMAB/MSAB operating support may include administrative costs
associated with the proposal budget
The Elk River Vision
A Yelcoming community nvith revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional P U W E H E o s r
service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity ,g /` UR
