<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 6, 1960 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at Village Hall on June 6, 1960. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; August Meyer, G.R. Bergerson, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mr. John Bailey and Mr. Kenneth Parker were present. They discussed the matter of a site for a new <br />school building. They have been looking at a site north of the track called the Carton property. Mrs. <br />Helen Gray and Ernest Palmer also were present. There is a question about how to get sewer and <br />water for that section. Also regarding where best to build a road to the school property from <br />Jackson Street. Whether to follow the section line or extend School Street to the west. The Council <br />will ask the County engineer to find out which road would be the best. <br /> <br />Dan Bailey who is working on the sewer assessments was present. There was discussion about <br />certain cases. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Bergerson to appropriate $200.00 to the Fire <br />Department for convention expense. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Stanley Wheaton and Kendall Houlton were present. They asked about an insurance agent of record <br />for village insurance. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs that the village appoint an agent of record. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Council was called for July 18 at 7:30 P.M. to consider this matter. <br /> <br />Kendall Houlton mentioned a proposed development north of the cemetery. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Kemper to pass the zoning ordinance subject to <br />adjustments already made. <br /> <br />Mayor called for a roll call vote which resulted as follows: <br />Bergerson – yes, Kemper – yes, Briggs – yes, Meyer – no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Member Kemper introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF STREETS, <br />SIDEWALKS AND CURBIN BY THE ABUTTING LANDOWNERS <br /> <br /> <br />
