<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 1, 1935 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday July 1, 1935 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />D.E. Davis, Pres.; Geo. Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, J.D. Flaherty, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />Visitors <br />John Druar, Chas Bade, Chas Brown and Wm. Brown <br /> <br />Wm. Brown, County Engineer came before the Council and stated that the county would re-tar the <br />following streets in Elk River, known as Street on east side of Village park, Quincy Str. Main St from <br />Methodist Church to pavement, Street in Hasting addition at an estimate cash of $397.10 and the <br />street west of the school house which is graveled now could be oiled and tarred at an estimate cost <br />of $100.00. The total amount the County would bill the Village would be $497.10. Wm Brown also <br />stated that the County plans on re-tarring the County road which runs thru Elk River known as <br />Main St. and they would take care of the other streets at the same time. A motion was made by Geo <br />Cornelius, seconded by J.D. Flaherty to have the County do the above work. <br /> <br />Druar representing the Druar and Milinowski Consulting engineers came before the council and <br />spoke about what could be done if the Village would put in a sewer system at the present time. If <br />the sewer were put in a federal project the Village would be given a grant of 45% of the total cost. <br />He estimated that it would require about 5 miles of ___ to take care of the Village with a disposal <br />plant. This would run at a cost of $50,000.00. He said his company would come to Elk River and <br />make a preliminary blue print showing the size of the lots in the Village at a cost of $250.00 after a <br />lengthy discussion it was decided to have Mr. Dare Editors of the Star News put the proposition <br />before the people and find out what the sentiment is in the Village in regards to a sewer system. <br /> <br />Wm. Greupner, Clerk, reported that L.G. Nelson, President of the Fair board had asked if the <br />Village would be willing to send the Municipal band to the County Fair and stand all the expenses. A <br />motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Patenaude to have the band play at the Fair 3 <br />days. <br /> <br />Wm Greupner also reported that Fair board had installed water pipes into the Fair ground and were <br />going to use water from the Village mains and wanted the opinion of the council as to whether they <br />should charge for water used for the 3 days of the Fair. It was decided not to charge the Fair board <br />for this water. <br /> <br />Mrs. Latta, Longfellow and Guptil’s terms as members of the Library Board expiring at this time and <br />it was found necessary to elect two new members as Mrs. Latta and Longfellow asked to be taken <br />off the board. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Joe Flaherty to Elect Mrs. Guptil, <br />Chas Babcock and C.E. Brown to serve on the Library board for a term of 3 years.
