ELK RIVER MUNICIPAL UTILITIES <br /> 322 King Avenue <br /> Elk River, Minnesota 55330 <br /> Phone (612) 441-2020 <br /> UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> May 6, 1991 <br /> 4: 00 P.M. <br /> Present Were: Jim Simpson President <br /> James Tralle Vice Chairman <br /> George Zabee Trustee <br /> Bill Birrenkott General Manager <br /> Others Present: Glenn Sundeen <br /> Gary Swanson Associated Consultants <br /> Wade Lovelette <br /> Mike Thiry <br /> 1) The meeting was called to order at 4 : 00 P.M. by President Simpson. <br /> 2) Motion by Mr. Zabee seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the agenda. <br /> The motion carried. <br /> 3) Motion by Mr. Tralle, seconded by Mr. Zabee, to approve the <br /> minutes of the previous meeting as distributed. The motion <br /> carried. <br /> 4) Gary Swanson of Associated Consultants Engineering presented <br /> documents with the evaluation of bids for the removal of the fuel <br /> tanks at the power plant and the installation of two new tanks. <br /> Motion by Mr. Zabee, seconded by Mr. Tralle, to award the bid on <br /> two 15, 000 gallon tanks to Determan Welding in the amount of <br /> $52 , 775 and the removal of the old tanks to Minnesota Petroleum in <br /> the amount of $10, 225. The motion carried. <br /> 5) A wage survey was presented and discussed by the General Manager. <br /> Wade Lovelette, representing the outside workers, presented a <br /> proposal for modifications to the existing practices of the <br /> Utilities. Motion by Mr. Zabee, seconded by Mr. Tralle, to make <br /> the following changes to the pay policies: <br /> a) The wage structure for the outside workers will be <br /> increased by 4 . 41%, <br /> b) Those employees who have accumulated over 120 days of <br /> sick leave will be paid for 40% of the amount over 120 <br /> days on December 1 of each year at their regular rate of <br /> pay, <br /> c) Those employees on call will be paid two additional hours <br /> for each holiday falling during their scheduled term on <br /> standby, <br /> d) These changes to become effective June 1, 1991. <br /> The motion carried. <br /> 6) The Line Superintendent reported that the Utilities have become <br /> aware that we will have to rebuild several miles of line in public <br /> right of way along Highway 169.
