ELK RIVER MUNICIPAL UTILITIES <br /> • 322 King Avenue <br /> Elk River, Minnesota 55330 <br /> Phone (612) 441-2020 <br /> UTILITIES COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> October 5, 1993 <br /> 3:00 P.M. <br /> Present Were: James Tralle President <br /> James Simpson Vice Chairman <br /> George Zabee Trustee <br /> Others Present: Bill Birrenkott General Manager <br /> Glenn Sundeen Line Superintendent <br /> Bob McCartney Water Superintendent <br /> Pat Klaers City Administrator <br /> Terry Maurer City Engineer <br /> Mike McGlone Salvation Army <br /> 1) The meeting was called to order at 3:00 P.M. by President <br /> Tralle. <br /> 2 ) Motion by Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the <br /> agenda. The Motion carried. <br /> 3) Motion by Mr. Simpson, seconded by Mr. Tralle to approve the <br /> minutes of the previous meeting. The motion carried. <br /> 4 ) Terry Maurer, City Engineer reported on the status of the new <br /> Water Tower in the Hillside area. He reported that the <br /> construction has begun and a late spring 1994 completion date <br /> is expected. He asked the Commissioners if they wanted to <br /> solicit bids for the well at that site. Motion by Mr. Zabee, <br /> seconded by Mr. Simpson, to authorize the City Engineer to <br /> advertise and solicit bids for a well. The Motion carried. <br /> Terry also reported on other projects including the treatment <br /> plant on the West end of town and the new sewer trunk line <br /> improvements. Motion by Mr. Zabee, seconded by Mr. Simpson to <br /> authorize the expenditure of $15,000 for water main <br /> improvements in the area of the sewer treatment plant. The <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 5) The General Manager reported that the second month of garbage <br /> billing has been accomplished with less problems than the first <br /> month. The phone has been busy but it appears that the system <br /> is beginning to settle down. <br /> 6) The General Manager reviewed with the Commissioners the status <br /> of the Sizer situation. <br />
