~ . . . REGULAR SEMI...MONTHLY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ELK RIVER HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL OFFICE BLDG. January 7, 1974 at 7:30 P.M. The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River City Council was called to order by Mayor Lundberg on January 7, 1974 at 7:30 PM. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall Office Building. Members present were as follows: Mayor Lundberg, Councilmen Cooper, Syring and Burke. The minutes of December 17, 1973 were corrected as follows: The correction to the resolution calling for the Special Election the word pertaining was changed to read "changing the wording of': The two property owners that attended the Storm Sewer Assessment Hearing were Mr. Glen Kuch and Mr. Norman Gunkel and not Mr. James Laduke as printed. The Minutes of December 17, 1973 were then approved as corrected. As there were no corrections or additions to the Special Minutes of the Canvassing Board Meeting of December 19, 1973 the minutes were approved as printed. The following Mayor appointments for the year 1974 were made: R. K. Sommer MD., City Health Inspector John MacGibbon, City Attorney Les Derr, City Weed Inspector Robert L. Olson, City Chief of Police Duane Mordal, City Civil Defense Director Lloyd Barthel, City Fire Chief The Mayors Committee appointments for 1974 are as follows: Finance Committee Councilman Don Cooper Councilman Rose Ann Burke Councilman Robert Syring Health and Safety Committee Councilman Tom Hudson Councilman Don Cooper Councilman Rose Ann Burke Improvements Committee Councilman Tom Hudson Councilman Rose Ann Burke Councilman Robert Syring appointments were made by the City Council to the various Commissions The following and Boards: Rev. Lloyd Haupt, City Library Board (1-1-74 to 12-31-76) George Zabee, City Planning Commission (1-1-74 to 12-31-76) Werner Banke, City Municipal Utilities Commission (1-1-74 to 12-31-76) Wilbur H. Daniels, City Park Board (1-1-74 to 12-31-76) Robert Syring, Councilman as Acting Mayor for the year 1974 NOTE: A copy of all the Cities Committee, Commissions and Boards and their members, terms of offices is attached. The City Street Department employees, Kenneth Nelson, Darrell Mack and LeRoy Pike were in attendance protesting that the 5.5% wage increase was still 55~ below the lowest paid employee of the Utilities. The Mayor instructed the Finance Committee to review this matter and report back to the Council. William Patenaude of the Utilities presented a proposal for a new well and pumping facilities in light of the request for water to the new School View Addition. The well, pump and iron removal equipment is estimated to cost around $100,000.00 water- mains and etc. would be extra.
