<br /> <br />Item # 6.2. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: Lori johnson, Finance and Administrative Services Director <br /> <br />DATE: january 18, 2005 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Consider Authorization to Advertise for Bids for Construction <br />of Westbound Liquor Store <br /> <br />At the November 22, 2004, City Council meeting, the Council discussed the Westbound <br />Liquor Store construction project. At that time, Gary Tushie of Tushie Montgomery <br />Architects gave the Council an update on the projected timeline for the project which <br />included accepting bids in February. The next step in the process is for the Council to <br />authorize the advertisement for bids. <br /> <br />Attached is the proposed Advertisement for Bids including a list of the twenty-two bid <br />packages for the project. This ad will be placed in the Elk River Star News so that alllocal <br />bidders have notice of the project. Liquor Manager, Dave Potvin, and his staff along with <br />the building inspection staff are waiting for the latest set of plans to review so that fInal <br />changes can be made and the fInal set of plans can be available by January 31 as stated in the <br />advertisement for bids. The schedule calls for the bids to be opened on February 24 with <br />Council award of bids on March 7. The anticipated construction start is March 21 according <br />to the schedule provided by the architect. The schedule provides for a store opening in late <br />fall. <br /> <br />Financing and planning approvals for this project are also proceeding simultaneously and <br />action items will be brought to the Council as needed to complete the financing and <br />planning process. <br /> <br />Action requested <br />The City Council is asked to consider authorization to advertise for bids as outlined in the <br />attached Advertisement for Bids for the construction of Westbound Liquor. <br />
