Minutes of the Sherburne/Wright County Cable Commission Meeting <br /> Thursday, November 4, 2010, 1:00 p.m. <br /> • Big Lake City Hall <br /> Present: Chair Phil Kern Commissioners Merton Auger,Myles McGrath,Tina Allard,Linda <br /> Hruby, Cathy Shuman (1:15 p.m.),Luke Fischer, and Don Orrock <br /> Absent: Commissioners Nancy Carswell and Don Levens <br /> Also present: Cable Consultant Bill Bruce,Video Production Coordinator Mark Davis,Attorney <br /> Bob Vose,and Charter Communications Director Tucker Carlson <br /> 1. Call to Order <br /> Chair Kern called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. <br /> 2. Approval of Minutes <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER ORROCK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER MCGRATH TO APPROVE THE AUGUST 5,2010 MINUTES. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 8-0. <br /> 3. Treasurer's Report <br /> a. Financial Statements <br /> • Commissioner Auger presented the financial statements. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER ORROCK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER MCGRATH TO APPROVE THE FINANICAL STATEMENTS <br /> AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED 8-0. <br /> 4. Attorney's Report <br /> Area Wide Channel <br /> There was discussion regarding the area wide channel setup and the funds that are supposed <br /> to come from Charter Communications for exchange of this setup versus the drop setup.Mr. <br /> Carlson stated the funds have been allocated for the Commission but due to many <br /> organizational and management changes he is still waiting for the final okay from the Denver <br /> office. He also stated there were issues with the cities who have competitive cable franchise <br /> agreements. <br /> Mr.Bruce questioned which channel the Commission would get for the area wide channel and <br /> requested Channel 19. Mr. Carlson stated he would have the information by next Wednesday. <br /> Century Link Qwest Merger <br /> Mr.Vose provided an update on this merger.He noted that Century Link provides video <br /> services and that phone companies are getting into the video market. He noted regulation of <br /> these types of services have yet to be decided. <br /> • 5. Equipment Report <br /> Mr.Bruce provided an update of projects from the previous quarter as outlined in his staff <br /> report.He noted some cities are asking for an indoor movie screen that could be used in <br /> winter and during rainouts. <br />
