Call Meeting to Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by Chair Anderson. <br /> 2. Consider Agenda <br /> • Mr. Hecker asked to move Item 8.1 to after Item 4. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Ahlness and seconded by Commissioner Sagan to <br /> approve the June 11,2014, agenda with the requested changes. Motion carried <br /> 5-0. <br /> 3. Consider Minutes <br /> Moved by Commissioner Kallemeyn and seconded by Commissioner Ahlness <br /> to approve the following May 14,2014 Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> Minutes. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> Steve Schumaker, 1106 190th Ave. NW, Elk River, expresses his concern over not <br /> being allowed to metal detect in Elk River parks. He shared that there are clubs all <br /> over the state and they are self-policing. He asked the commission to consider <br /> having a permit policy to allow the activity. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared in his experience it is difficult to police activities in the park such <br /> as metal detecting and appreciated an alternative idea and will have the subject on the <br /> July Commission agenda. <br /> IP Dana Cohen,21194 Lander St. NW, Elk River,questioned what will replace the <br /> climbing rock that was removed from the Windsor Park last spring.
