Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 <br /> June 11,2014 <br /> play structure, slides,and/or climbing equipment as there a lot of families in the <br /> 111 <br /> neighborhood. <br /> Commissioner Anderson asked how often the park is used. <br /> Ms. Cohen shared that it is used a lot even without the equipment,however slides <br /> would bring more children to the park. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that there is a void for the younger ages out there and that it has <br /> been discussed to allot funds to add equipment to Windsor Park. <br /> 8.1 Lions Park Renaming Recommendation <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report. <br /> Deb Weston,Elk River Lions Club President shared that the club approved the <br /> name and supporting financially with updated signage. <br /> Commissioner Anderson stated that the signage should be updated after the Parks <br /> and Recreation Master Plan is completed. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Sagan and seconded by Commissioner Kallemeyn <br /> to recommend to City Council to rename Lions Park to Lion John Weicht • <br /> Park. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> 5. Parks & Recreation Master Plan Framework Presentation - HKGi <br /> Lil Leatham,Hoisington Koegler Group Inc (HKGi),gave a presentation regarding <br /> the status of the needs assessment and recommended framework of the Parks and <br /> Recreation Master Plan. <br /> 6. Park/Program Highlight <br /> Mr.Benoit shared a slideshow presentation of all the summer recreation <br /> programming being offered. <br /> 7.1 Donation Policy <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report and handed out a draft policy and examples of <br /> different types of benches. <br /> Commissioner Anderson stated that a land acquisition should be brought to the <br /> commission for approval. <br /> Commissioner Anderson led discussion of each item through draft policy and asked <br /> to add "Volunteer maintenance of tree care is encouraged." • <br /> rem , . <br /> 1 1 <br /> NATURE <br />
