Adams <br /> Subject: Construction of Well #8 <br /> The 2003 budget contains a line item to construct Water Well #8. The remaining portion <br /> of this project, filter plant modification and new water lines, will be started late this year <br /> and completed in Spring 2004. The estimated cost of this total project is as follows: <br /> Engineering $ 121,500 <br /> Test Wells (Well 8 & 9) 30,000 <br /> Production Well 250,000 <br /> Filter Plant Modifications 150,000 <br /> Raw Water Line 342,000 <br /> Well Site Work& Access Road 60,000 <br /> Total Project $953,000 <br /> Staff recommends authorization to proceed with this project and water revenue bonds be <br /> sold to finance this project. <br /> The need to construct this facility is based upon the following attached information. <br /> a) City map reflecting the location of the new Well #8, new water line, and <br /> filter plant #7 location. This map also reflects the proposed location of <br /> possible future wells. <br /> b) Graph reflecting Elk River water consumption characteristics. <br /> We currently have six water production facilities with a peak pumping capacity of 7.92 <br /> million gallons per day (MGD) with all facilities operational, or 6.48 MGD with the <br /> largest facility not operational at peak time. In 2001 which was a dry year, our peak day <br /> was 5.32 MGD. Depending upon weather, our peak day in 2004 will approach 6.48 <br /> MGD. With current water consumption trends in Elk River, a water production facility <br /> will accommodate approximately 700 residential homes. We have approximately 1500 <br />
