MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> • HELD AT ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br /> TUESDAY,JANUARY 8, 2013 <br /> Members Present: Chair Anderson,Commissioners Westberg Johnson,Keller,Keefe,and <br /> Konietzko <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner Bell <br /> Staff Present: Council Liaison Barbara Burandt,Jeremy Barnhart,Planning Manager; <br /> Chris Leeseberg,Planner/Park Planner;and Tina Allard,City Clerk <br /> 1. Call Meeting To Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Planning Commission <br /> was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Chair Anderson. <br /> 2. Consider 1/8/13 Planning Commission Agenda <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER KELLER TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 6-0. <br /> • 3. Consider 11/13/12 Planning Commission Minutes <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER KONIETZKO TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 13,2012 <br /> MINUTES. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> 4. Request by Cornerstone Auto Resource for Conditional Use Permit for Motor Vehicle <br /> Specialty Shop at 17219 US Highway 10,NW,Public Hearing,Case No. CU 13-01 <br /> Mr.Barnhart presented the staff report. <br /> Chair Anderson opened the public hearing. <br /> Steve Rohlf,representing Cornerstone Auto Resources—Questioned if it is staffs <br /> interpretation that the applicant is grandfathered in with their existing car wash sign, <br /> referring to the Board of Adjustments meeting held prior to this meeting. <br /> Mr.Barnhart stated he could respond to the applicant after this meeting. <br /> Chair Anderson stated the applicant can have up to 272 square feet of signage and can <br /> choose how best to utilize it.He further noted the Commission made its recommendation <br /> and the City Council will be reviewing the variance at their next meeting. <br /> Mr.Barnhart stated he staff believes the signage is non-conforming. He discussed the <br /> applicants'options for the current request being discussed. <br /> • <br />
