Ji <br />cry o: <br />.~~.-, <br />ERiver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: City Staff <br />Appointed Board and Commission Members <br />CC: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Lori Johnson, City Administrator <br />DATE: October 28, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: Adoption of Elk River's Vision and Goals <br />At the October 11 Council work session, the proposed Elk River Vision and Goals developed by the <br />management team staff and Council member W"estgaard in September through two full days of <br />discussion, study, and a lengthy evaluation were presented to the Council for review. A copy of the <br />staff memo more fully outlining the process and the presentation to the Council can be found on <br />the Cin's website under your government by searching agendas and minutes tab then the Cit<- <br />Council agenda packet for the October 11, ?010, meeting and accessing the staff report fox item ~.1. <br />Following discussion on October 11, the Council adopted the vision and goals at the October 18 <br />meeting with minor revisions to three of the four goals. The adopted vision and goals axe below: <br />The Vision <br />Abounding in natural beauty, Elk River is a vibrant, historic river town that promotes an <br />active lifestyle in an innovative and involved community offering unlimited opportunities. <br />Goals supporting the Vision <br />• Innovation -Develop new programs and services to meet the needs of the <br />community. <br />• Community Development -Enhance community involvement and public <br />participation through a variety of innovative outlets. <br />• Beautification- Have attractive welcoming stteetscapes at City entrances and <br />primary corridors.
