MEETING OF THE ELK RIVER CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL MONDAY, MARCH 25, 1996 Members Present: Members Absent: Staff Present: Mayor Duitsman, Councilmember Dietz, Scheel, Holmgren and Farber None Pat Klaers, City Administrator; Sandra Thackeray, City Clerk; Terry Maurer, City Engineer; Steven Ach, City Planner Call Meeting To Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River City Council was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor DuJtsman. 2. Consider Aqenda 6,1. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE 3/25/96 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. Consider Consent A.qenda COUNClLMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS FOLLOWS: 4.1. 4.2. 4.3. 5.1. 5,2. 5.3. MARCH 11, 1996, CITY COUNCIL MINUTES -- APPROVED MARCH 12, 1996, CITY COUNCIL MINUTES -- APPROVED MARCH 18, 1996, CITY COUNCIL MINUTES -- APPROVED AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR THREE PAID-ON-CALL FIREFIGHTERS -- APPROVED RESIGNATION OF PAYROLL CLERK BRENDA EBNER AND AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR THE POSITION -- APPROVED TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE FOR RUDY GAITON AND ERIK JOHNSTONE TO SELL AUDIO EQUIPMENT DOOR-TO-DOOR -- APPROVED COUNClLMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. Jim and Kathleen Raivala Request for Variance, Public Hearing Case No. V-96-1 City Planner Steven Ach indicated that this issue was continued from the March 18, City Council meeting. At that meeting the Council decided to grant a front yard setback variance for Jim and Kathleen Raivala to build a garage on their property located at 18648 Simonet Drive. The issue was continued to allow staff to draft the findings for the granting of the variance. Steven Ach presented the findings to the Council. COUNCILMEMBER SCHEEL MOVED TO APPROVE A FRONT YARD SETBACK VARIANCE FOR JIM AND KATHLEEN RAIVALA AT 18648 SIMONET DRIVE BASED ON THE FINDINGS
