<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 3, 1954 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on May 3, 1954. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Mayor Schwartz read the advertisement recently published for bids for village truck and dump box. <br />Bids were received from the following: Nickerson Bros, Flaherty Bros, Elk River Implement Co, <br />Anoka Garage, and International Harvester Co. The International Harvester Co. presented the <br />lowest bid for the 19,000 lb truck, bid being $3,541.00. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded <br />by Bailey to buy the International truck for $3,541.00. Motion carried. All voting in favor. <br /> <br />Joe Schwab and Clarence Kramer were present and asked for a street light on their corner. The <br />council agreed to recommend to the Utilities that this light be installed. <br /> <br />A delegation met with the council in regard to the drainage problem in the vicinity of Blackers and <br />Heidelbergs. The Council suggested that they talk it over with Mr. Bickman regarding the excavating <br />and have Les Derr get ground survey. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to settle recent damage to hydrant and pole <br />on Princeton St. for not less than $400.00. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved ordered paid: <br />August Leider – labor 168.20 <br />Fire Department – fires 312.00 <br />Oliver Micheau – Police supplies 3.16 <br />State Farm Ins Co – truck ins 44.44 <br />Lewis Lickness – mdse and storage 25.40 <br />Geo Moos – Police 144.03 <br />Zella M Page – library books 46.43 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 6.00 <br />Zella M Page – salary 70.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – street lights 100.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – traffic siren 35.29 <br />E.R. Utilities – hydrant rent 68.00 <br />Farm Bureau – gas, repairs 14.96 <br />Lester V Derr and Harry Dreissig – fire school 36.98 <br />Flaherty Bros – services 3.00 <br />Central Lmbr Co – lumber 77.65 <br />Star News – publishing 108.40 <br />Red and White Grocery – groc. Tom Olson 30.28 <br /> <br />
