E1k~River Landfill - P304C Work Plan Page 1 of 2
Perry, Jack Y.
.~ .. . .. .
From: Johnson, Terry [Tjohnson8@wm.cornJ
Sent: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 12:18 PM
To: Perry, Jack Y.
Subject: FW: Elk River landfill - P304C Work Plan
Jack,
Here is a City approval far investigation that resulted in two monitor wells that are located west of the City trail. These
wells were formally included into our permanent Monitoring program. Although I have not seen the exact overlay
boundary I believe these wells are outside of that boundary.
Tom. ~ ~.. ~-~ .-
Prom: Matthew ledvina [mailto:mlledvina@ergitd.com]
Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2003 2:35 PM
T®: jeidem@geomatrix.com; Johnson, Terry
Cc: dave.lucas@co.sherburne.mn.us; jason.chan@pca.state.mn.us; srohlf@ci.elk-river.mn.us
Subject; Elk River Landflli - P304C Work Plan
Jim and Terry:
i reviewed the work plan and can offer comments as discussed with Jim on March 5.
Overall, the plan is acceptable as a first phase of investigation for the groundwater contamination in the vicinity of well P304C.
® if the geoprobe technique is unsuccessful and Hollow stem auger techniques are used, headspace VOC readings should
be conducted for split spoon samples that are collected.
® The areal distribution of boring locations is generally acceptable however you should consider relocating B5 to the north of
B1 to be closer to the likely source of the contamination which is presumed to be the unlined portion of the landfill.. You
should also consider additional probes to the east of P304C closer to the waste deposit.
Follow-up report should include a discussion of the mechanisms and pathways for presumed LFG-impacted groundwater
migrating to the P304C area and C-horizon.
Good luck with the fieldwork.
