2.0 Description of Proposed Project <br />2.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The ERL proposes to develop an additional approximately 13 acres of MSW landfill <br />space on the southern-most portion of the existing landfill property. The proposed <br />expansion will provide approximately 1,671,000 cubic yards of additional MSW <br />capacity. Depending on waste flow quantities, the proposed expansion would extend the <br />operational life of the landfill approximately 4 to 7 years by providing additional landl~ll <br />capacity. <br />2.2 CURRENT FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS <br />Landfill operations are performed under the direction and oversight of licensed landfill <br />operators. In addition to typical utilities such as water, ser~)er, electricity, and phone <br />service, infrastructure requirements special to the landfill are: leachate and gas <br />condensate storage facilities and their associated leachate and gas piping components. <br />As far as landf 11 facility structures, the ERL, currently has the Following on-site <br />buildings: <br />• Scalehouse: Located on the east side oPthe facility with scales on both sides. <br />• Landfill Office and Maintenance Building: Precast concrete building located <br />northeast of the existing MSW area.'hhe building houses the landfill oPtices, <br />maintenance area, including the oil storage facility. <br />® Gas-to Energy Plant: Precast concrete building on the northeast end of the <br />current MSW facility just east of the landfill office.
