-aft Status Report on the Northstar Commuter Rail Project. June 7, 2001 <br /> <br />principles, guidelines, and implementation tools. <br /> <br />On June 7 and July 12, NCDA/IBI hosted Workshops for <br />City/County staff. The Goals of the Workshop were: <br />1. Generate a better understanding of TOD <br />2. Develop station area plans (concept) <br /> <br />During the months of August - March 2001 HKGi met with City <br />Planning Commission/Council throughout the Corridor to assist the <br />station cities with planning, zoning, and comprehensive plan issues <br />supportive of TOD. <br /> <br />In December, 2000 an Economic Feasibility Report was developed <br />by IBI. The report evaluates the economic feasibility of Transit <br />Oriented Development in the Northstar Corridor. <br /> <br />Result: The IBI conclusion was that the potential for TOD in the <br />Northstar Corridor varied greatly by station location. Also, it would <br />likely take a concerted effort to realize TOD potential in the <br />Northstar Corridor. <br /> <br />Metropolitan council staff have continued to work with all Northstar <br />station cities within the Metropolitan area to encourage and assist <br />them with planning, zoning, and comprehensive plan modifications <br />to support transit oriented development. <br /> <br />David Loch and Hoisington Koegler Group have continued to work <br />with all Northstar station cities outside the Metropolitan area. <br /> <br />Result: The following cities have passed resolutions committing to <br />comprehensive plan amendments that support transit oriented <br />development: (to be developed) <br /> <br />Northstar Corridor Development Authority 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
