Agenda Item # 2c <br /> <br />NORTHSTAR CORRIDOR DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />RESOLUTION <br />2001-03 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Northstar Corridor Development Authority (NCDA) was <br />established in 1997 for the express purpose of analyzing integrated transportation <br />improvements including highway improvements, commuter rail, recreational trails and <br />other transportation enhancements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the NCDA's Major Investment Study undertook a comprehensive <br />evaluation of alternatives and selected a Locally Preferred Transportation Investment <br />Strategy in December 1999; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the preferred strategy for the Corridor is a multi-modal strategy <br />incorporating commuter rail, feeder bus improvements, minor upgrades to TH 10 and <br />river crossings; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the preferred strategy also included the integration of planned and <br />existing bicycle trails into the multi-modal transportation improvements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the U.S. Congress is currently doing demonstration projects to <br />encourage youth to bicycle or walk to school or work. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the NCDA recommends to the <br />Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation that the design of <br />commuter rail stations provides for the multi-modal enhancements contemplated in the <br />MIS; and, in particular, that underpasses at stations allow for use by bicyclers and <br />pedestrians and not be restricted to commuters. <br /> <br />Betsy Wergin, Chairperson <br />Dated: <br /> <br />Certification <br /> <br />I hereby certify that the above resolution is a true copy of the Resolution duly passed, <br />adopted, and approved by the Northstar Corridor Development Authority on May 3, <br />2001. <br /> <br />(Name) <br /> <br /> <br />
