Adopted Date: <br />• Revised Date: <br />Position Title-- Zoning Assistant <br />Department-- Building and Zoning; and Planning <br />FLSA Status-- [ ]Exempt [ x ]Non-Exempt <br />Summary Description <br />This position is to provide assistance and report to the Building and Zoning <br />Administrator regarding solid waste and other environmental issues; in <br />order to maintain and improve the quality of the environment as it relates to <br />the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Elk River. <br />This position will perform work relating to ensuring compliance with the City <br />Ordinance and following up on code violations. <br />This position will assist and report to the city planner in regards to <br />processing and review of planning applications. <br />Duties/R,esponsibilities <br />• 1) Recycling Prog' am-- Aid in the administration of the city's recycling <br />program, as well as develop and implement new landfill abatement programs <br />including curbside recycling, yard waste removal, and drop-off sites. Develop <br />public information and educational material for landfill abatement program. <br />2) Other Environmental Issues -- Assist in the city's efforts to review and <br />regulate various environmental issues. <br />3) Zoning Applications -- Assist in the preparation of initial reports and <br />graphics on zoning applications required to be reviewed by the Planning <br />Commission and the City Council. This includes, without limitation, <br />conditional use permits, variances, rezonings, and subdivisions; and attend <br />meetings to present findings. <br />4) Code Enforcement -- Initiate investigation and legal action on zoning, <br />nuisance, and pollution complaints filed with the city. <br />5) General Inauiries -- Receive and respond to general inquiries relating to <br />zoning ordinances and city functions. <br />6) Other -- The duties and responsibilities enumerated above are not <br />. intended to be all inclusive and maybe expanded to include other duties or <br />
