critical issue in the central business district and the elimination of stalls
should be well thought out before being authorized.
• Commission Vacancy
Commissioner Lipetzky has resigned from the Commission. It is
recommended that the City Council accept this resignation and authorize
staff to advertise for this vacancy on the Park and Recreation Commission.
Athletic Fields
The need for athletic fields and land for these fields has been an ongoing
topic with the Commission and City Council. Consistent with direction from
the Council and as recommended by the Commission, staff is evaluating land
opportunities and the development potential of recreation fields on various
parcels of property in the southeast corner of the city. Unfortunately, staff is
not ready to make a recommendation to the City Council on whether or not
we should pursue construction of fields on the Wastewater Treatment Plant
sludge land or whether or not we should make an offer for other properties in
this area for future development of recreation fields. No action is requested
on this agenda item, however, I do anticipated getting a recommendation to
the City Council in the near future.
•
n
LJ
