NOV-15-96 FRI 17:10 SHERBURNE COUNTY RDRIN, FRX NO, 6124418567 P, O1 <br /> <br />39 <br /> <br />SHERBURNE COUNTY PERSONNEL RULES AND POLICIES <br /> (Refer to Disclaimer, Chapter 1~ Page 1) <br /> <br />PROCEDURE FOR EMERGENCY CLOSINGS <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />=if adverse weather or other emergency cor{difions exist during normal business hours of <br />county I~acil~es, the County Administrator, in consultation with the Chairperson of the <br />County Board of Commissioners (if available), may declare that a state of emergency <br />exists. The declaration of a state of emergencywill be communicated by the County <br />Administrator by electronic mail to each department in the county. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />When a state of emergency is declared, each individual employee may determine whether <br />he/she will remain on the .lob or be excused. The County recognizes that the safety and <br />health o1' employees and employee's dependents has priority. Any employee who <br />determines that their safety or the safety of their dependent's may be placed In Jeopardy if <br />the employee remarns on the job shall be authorized to leave. Any employee so excused <br />must utilize vacation or compensatory time for the time missed from work. If such <br />employee has neither vacation or compensatory time, then the time absent shall be leave <br />without pay. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Each Department Head shall determine whether or not that department retains sufficient <br />staffing levels to remain open. In the event that a Department Head chooses to cl(~se <br />his/her department during normal business hours, the County Administrator will be <br />immediately notified o1' such closing. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />This policy is developed with the assumption [hat a complete closlng of all county facil~es <br />during normal busine~ hours shall not occur· However, the County Administrator and <br />County l~oard Chair retain the authorfty to deviate from this policy if deemed necessary by <br />those authorities. <br /> <br />5) <br /> <br />This policy does not apply to those departments and employees expected to remsin on <br />duty during adverse weather or other emergency events. <br /> <br />12:6 <br /> <br />County Board Approved 10-03-95 <br /> <br /> <br />
