The Utilities Commission reserves the right to eliminate positions or reduce the hours <br />associated with a position. <br />23. SUPPLEMENTAL EMPLOYMENT <br />If an employee is planning to take an outside job, notification should be given to his/her <br />supervisor. If the employee is unable to maintain high performance standards with the <br />Utility as a result of employment at a second outside job, the permission to work at the <br />supplemental job may be rescinded, or the employee may be subject to dismissal. <br />24. HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE <br />T'he Utility will pay eighty percent (80%) of the monthly premium per employee/family <br />for health insurance. Any monthly premium over and above 80% of the health coverage <br />is the responsibility of the employee. <br />25. DENTAL INSURANCE <br />The Utility will pay seventy-five (75%) of the monthly premium per employee/family for <br />dental insurance. Any monthly premium over and above 75% of the dental coverage is <br />the responsibility of the employee. <br />26. LONG-TERM DISABILITY <br />A Long-Term Disability Plan is provided to regular individual employees. Schedule <br />amount: 66 2/3% of Monthly Earnings subject to a maximum schedule amount of <br />$5,000.00 per month. The qualifying period for the coverage is two months. <br />27. LIFE INSURANCE <br />Life insurance is provided to the employee at a rate of Two and One Half times (2 ''/z) the <br />employees annual salary, to a maximum of $85,000.00. Beneficiary is at the discretion of <br />the employee. <br />28. CONCEALED WEAPONS <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities prohibit all employees from carrying on their person or <br />possessing handguns while acting in the course and scope of their employment for the <br />Utility. Carrying or possessing firearms in Utility vehicles is prohibited. Possession does <br />not include a handgun that is properly encased and secured in the employee's vehicle. <br />This prohibition of the carrying or possession of handguns includes but is not limited to: <br />• Driving when on Utility business in the employee's vehicle unless the <br />handgun is encased and properly stored in the vehicle; <br />• Riding as a passenger in anon-utility owned vehicle unless the handgun is <br />encased and properly stored in the vehicle; <br />\\ermuserver\home$\peggy\Misc Manuals\MISC MANUAL ITEMS\Employee Handbook 2007.doc 9 <br />Revision April 2008 <br />
