Park & Recreation Commission Minutes <br />April 11, 2007 <br />Page 2 <br />Commissioner Amanda Larson; shared that she has been an Elk River • <br />resident for two years and works for the Ridgedale YMCA and is excited to <br />be on the Parks & Recreation Commission in her own community versus in <br />the community that she works in. <br />Commissioner Charles Schuldt shared that he is a long time Elk River <br />resident and former teacher and Jr. High Athletic Director here in Elk River. <br />He stated he would like to provide after school activities for the teens. <br />Commissioner Steve Boese shared that he has been an Elk River resident for <br />three years and happy to be on the Parks & Recreation Commission. <br />4.4. Election of Chair and Vice Chair <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER ANDERSON AND SECONDED <br />BY COMMISSIONER PAIGE TO ELECT COMMISSIONER <br />NYSTROM AS CHAIR OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER ANDERSON AND SECONDED <br />BY COMMISSIONER NYSTROM TO RE-ELECT VICE CHAIR <br />PAIGE AS VICE CHAIR OF PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. • <br />5. Open Mike <br />6. Recreation Mana er's Report -Tonya Love <br />Recreation Administrative Coordinator, Tonya Love shared that the 1S` Annual <br />Flashlight Egg Hunt was a success with over 200 children participating in the rain. <br />Ms. Love shared that Adult Softball was full with 52 teams and applications for the <br />new Farmers Market at Orono Park are still being accepted. <br />Ms. Love stated that downtown Riverfront Concerts Series will be sponsored by The <br />Bank of Elk River and First National Bank. Together they have donated $7200, <br />which completely covers the cost of the events. They will also both allow use of <br />their parking lots to accommodate the crowds. <br />Ms. Love shared that at this years Business Expo we had representatives present <br />from all divisions of Parks and Recreation and that our summer program guide is <br />over 40 pages of great programming; our biggest guide ever! <br />Ms. Love shared that Sue Kostanshek from the Senior Center is collaborating with <br />the YMCA to offer a few new senior programs. • <br />
